<title>Women in Cycling: An Uphill Climb for Gender Equity</title>

<description>This ethnographic study is about the unique experiences of women in the cycling world.   Women's experiences in cycling differ from those of men in the way that they present themselves, are treated, paid, and recognized in the media. These differences stem from how women's identities and roles are shaped at a social level.  I exploring the position of women in cycling using the theoretical framework of Gender Studies which analyzes and explains the social construction of the female gender. In all cycling disciplines male participants far out number the women, reflecting this social reality. However, despite the lack of support women receive, there are currently numerous competitive women cyclists who pursue cycling at high levels and succeed in breaking through various boundaries and social norms in order to do so.  To explore the interesting and complex dynamics of women in cycling, I have conducted personal, in-depth interviews with various members, both men and women, involved in the cycling community.</description>

<description>Adventure Education is an emerging pedagogy that encompasses a holistic approach to teaching and learning in the backcountry. Adventure educators, and their professional counterparts, are often required to demonstrate a diversified skill set that includes both technical skills (e.g. rock climbing, paddling or camping skills) and interpersonal skills (e.g. ability to listen, connect with the participants and conflict resolution skills). Specifically, I will be taking a look at how professionals and students in Adventure Education are being trained to handle conflict resolution situations in a backcountry setting.</description>

<description>Ancient Egypt and ancient Greece, two immortal civilizations of the ancient world, have recently been found to be rife with what is, to the modern eye, grotesque practices and dark ideas about the nature of life and death. In the last several decades, there has been an explosion of study focused on this topic and an increased interest in magic, its definition, and uses within the historical context. Where does this sudden attention come from? Because modern American and European culture has become enamored with the esoteric, there has been a sudden increase in demand for arcane history. This focus has been romanticisized from the contemporary framework which has built supernatural up to be so unusual and strange. This paper is an exegesis on contemporary popular culture and its influence and how it steers the course of popular and academic history.</description>
